Dealing with Head Injuries

Published by at 12:36 pm under

Typically the result of a blow or fall, head injuries are less common than extremity injuries, but their complications can produce long-term disability.  Thus instructors of Kickboxing Classes in MD recommend that you be able to identify a potential head injury and take appropriate precautions.  When the skull experiences sudden movements the brain is sometimes injured.  When a brain suffers an injury sometimes it bleeds, these instances are called cerebral contusions and hematomas.  There are also membranes that cover and protect your brain, and bleeding could occur from the vessels between the membranes as well.  Because the skull is a rigid bony structure filled with brain tissue it contains little room for expansion.  Any bleeding or tissue swelling exerts compression force against the brain cells, and can result in serious neurological damage.
